Nutritional Care

What should you feed your pet? Most people ponder this question at least once, if only for a moment, when selecting a pet food from the store. After all, anyone who has seen the pet food aisle or been in a pet store understands how many dietary options exist. We will be happy to help make this potentially daunting task as easy as possible. We do not stock commercial diets, but we will special order any such foods if asked.

Nutritional care encompasses the specific dietary needs of your pet; based on species, age, body size, lifestyle, medical concerns, and other possible issues. We can answer nutritional questions about healthy pets in a phone inquiry. If a patient has health concerns, we may need to conduct a physical exam or perform testing to determine the best possible food for your pet to help them have as comfortable and healthy life as possible.

By determining the appropriate nutritional requirements of your pet, we can potentially mediate many health concerns including diabetes, obesity, osteoarthritis, cardiac and renal disease, and food allergies to name a few. Nutrition can also moderate more common concerns such as extra weight gain, tartar accumulation, hairball problems, stool with bad odor, ...etc. We can also change your pet's short term dietary habits to alleviate symptoms of diarrhea or loose stools, vomiting, lethargy or other acute problems.
