Annual Recommendations For Cats
0 to 1 year of age
- Series of vaccinations for new kittens
- Fecal exam and deworming treatment if necessary
- Discussion of diet, socialization, kitten behavior, toys, ...etc, all discussed at your kitten's initial examination
- Neutering
- Females around 6 months of age
- Males around 6-7 months of age - Declawing, if you so choose, at 12 weeks or older
- Testing for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV)
1 to 6 years of age
- Wellness exam yearly
- Rabies vaccination
- Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia vaccination
- Feline Leukemia vaccination given at 1 year but then every other year (until age 8)
- Fecal analysis (stool check) for intestinal parasites
- yearly for outdoor cats or cats that go outside even occasionally
- every other year for indoor cats (i.e. cats that never go outside) - Flea control if your cat goes outside or if you have dogs that may get fleas
- Dental exam and cleaning if needed
7 years of age
- Above care for 1 to 6 years plus:
- Semiannual examinations
- Chemistry panel (8)and a CBC with differential
- Dental exam (high priority)
8 to 10 years of age
- Above care for 1 to 7 years plus:
- Senior chemistry panel (17) and a CBC with differential
- Urinalysis including microscopic evaluation
- Thyroid screen with blood chemistry
- Nutrition discussion for senior dietary needs
10+ years of age
- Above care for 1-10 years plus:
- Radiographs of the chest for a cancer screen
