The Pet Gallery: Page 1

Welcome to our Pet Gallery. Get to know our friendly, fun, fantastic, furry friends. We'd love to add your fuzzy family member to our mix. Please e-mail a photo or three to djohnmedcomp@yahoo.com and put "Pet Gallery" in the subject. Include your pet's name and a little note about how your pet received it or simply just a cute story. Who knows, your little (or not so little) one may even become a professor and "teach" a subject in our library!

Ribozyme
Obviously, this is Ribozyme. He is an eight year old cat who sleeps better than just about anyone except Rip Van Winkle. What is a ribozyme? (Not ribosome.) It’s a ribonucleic acid that exhibits enzymatic properties. His owner has a biochemistry degree, that's how a cat receives a name like that.
Libby
Dr. Johnson's house has never been without a Labrador. Libby is his first yellow incarnation of the breed. Many of our clients have seen her at the clinic and she usually amazes them with her extraordinary leaping abilities. Contrary to popular rumor, "Libby" is not short for Liberty or Libertarian or anything else, just Libby. Why "Libby?" "Why not?" say her owners.
Oliver The Grinch
Oliver the Grinch just awoke from his nap. Either that or he's upset that his owner just took off to Europe and left him all alone. Oliver was adopted later in his life but he has a good home now. Oliver the Grinch is an amalgam of Oliver from Oliver Twist and Dr. Seuss's Grinch "who stole Christmas." If anyone can explain it, please let us know.
Raven
Raven, a lovable one year old black Labrador, is chewing her favorite stuffed toy. She has more than enough energy for any three dogs and she expends it jumping any moment she gets a chance. Why "Raven?" What else do you name an energetic, sleek bodied, jet black dog? Somehow "Crow" just doesn't sound the same.
Finnegan
Finnegan came into the world just weeks ago as of this picture. He's just realizing he is a puppy and has lots of time to fill with play and exploration. That treat is to give Finnegan a distraction to focus on before he receives one of his booster vaccinations that all puppies should get.
Amber
Amber here is getting ready to go home after she had surgery this morning. She's an eight year old golden retriever who's really sweet and loves attention. (Amber. Golden Retriever. Get it?)
Katie
Katie was adopted from the Evanston Animal Shelter in Oct. 1996 and they named her Katie. We are told Katie loves coming to North Shore Veterinary Clinic because she thinks we have the best treats in town. Meeting Katie is an instant attitude boost because it's hard to be down when someone is so energetically glad to see you. (Especially if you have those special treats!)

Duchess
Duchess is another of our brand new puppies. She is the new female royalty in a household that already has a "Duke." Believe us when we say she will be well cared for and pampered. Soon she will be ruling her new roost but we think Duke will mind, he assumes his feline authority is unquestionable.
Louis Lane, Aslan, Krypto
Please meet our three newest boxer puppies. We expect them to get into plenty of mischief in the near future. What else should anyone expect from three litter mates, there will always be one waking from a nap when another goes to sleep. Louis Lane and Krypto obviously hail from the chronicles of Superman. Aslan is the lion from the story of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
Kobe
Kobe is a young energetic mixed breed. His namesake has not had the best press exposure of late. But, after meeting this Kobe, no one would have any doubt that canine Kobe could easily fill in for human Kobe on the court and sink a dunk if he just had a good assist.
